Ah, yes indeed dear customer, at MUMS a pink sausage is the sign of a quality banger! Let us explain why. Sausages have always been regarded by many as the 'bin-end' of the butchery world, whatever was not sold was shoved into a sausage, mechanically recovered meat, genetically modified ingredients, colourings, preservatives and additives - yuk! Our exclusive supplier O'Hagans, are the original gourmet sausage maker - handcrafted daily using only the finest fresh ingredients and none of the stuff mentioned above. One of the biggest fillers in sausages is rusk (or breadcrumbs) and what happens when you toast bread - it goes brown. Which is why your sausage turns brown, it's not the colour of cooked perfection - it's just browned breadcrumbs! MUMS sausages are 100% meat and that also means, they are gluten free (occasionally oats are used to bind some finer meats - but that's all) so, at MUMS a pinkish sausage means quality and chef/owner Terry knows a thing or two about cooking and preparing meats as he also trained as a butcher (Mr smarty pants) - so, never fear, eat hearty and be merry (but if you get a pink sausage in any other establishment, we suggest you consider sending it back!)
TEMPEST BREWING
As big fans of ‘small batch’ beers MUMS pleased to welcome Tempest, a independent brewing company located in Kelso, this is ‘small batch’ exactly as it should be and have provided us with such beauties as Caligula and the Mocha Porter over the last few weeks. Limited in numbers, these beers are seasonal so check with your server to see what’s the latest offer from Tempest.
MUMS GREAT VALUE GRILL
MUMS got some of the best burgers in town, some would say ‘gourmet’, but you know we don’t use words like that. Great tasting, fresh produce with a choice of beef, lamb, chicken and buffalo as well as the incredible Kobe (Japanese beef) which is fast becoming a cult hero!
Or how about a great steak, fresh and never frozen, cooked your way and served with hand cut chips – try it with MUMS coffee marinade.
